Robus reflects on hosting at the GIIA annual dinner

We were delighted to host a table at the GIIA Annual Dinner on Wednesday 24th May. Another fantastic sell out event and an opportunity to catch up with our colleagues and friends across Guernsey’s international insurance industry.

Congratulations to Luke Penney and Michael Le Huray, joint winners of the Chris Le Conte Award 2023, well done to you both. Clever Mukonowatsauka, our senior finance manager at Robus, was shortlisted as a finalist for the award, congratulations to him also for this well-deserved recognition.

The dinner was our own Adele Gale’s first opportunity to address industry since election as Chairman of GIIA in February 2023 and her speech painted an optimistic future for our diverse and innovative industry while acknowledging the need for decisive action to address local issues. The immense value which Adele places on GIIA and the platform it provides was clear, and the support of the Association by Robus mirrors our belief that working together we can amplify messages and achieve change and maintain Guernsey’s excellent reputation.

Adele’s passion for ESG was a theme of the evening with a focus in her speech on creating equity of opportunity within the industry for the good of business. Equity of opportunity is about providing everyone with equal access to opportunities, recognising that will mean extra support for some. Adele’s chosen charity for the dinner was the Guernsey Employment Trust (‘GET’) and their CEO Nikki Ioannou-Droushiotis provided a myth busting and inspiring speech on the work of GET and their Employers’ Disability Charter.

The guest speaker Mark Watson provided excellent entertainment, shining a comedic light onto some of the more amusing headlines in the Guernsey Press, and with the bar open until 12:30am, the entertaining went on late into the night.
