Robus Risk Services provides Insurance Management Services to regulated entities under its Insurance Managers licence. Following increased demand for our services, we are looking for an experienced Insurance Accountant to join our team in Gibraltar. 

Role Context

The role of the Insurance Accountant holds a distinctive position in managing the financial intricacies inherent to the insurance sector. Tasked with overseeing financial operations for our clients, the Insurance Accountant will play a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management.

Within our organisation, the Insurance Accountant will be responsible for handling a spectrum of financial tasks specific to the insurance domain. This will include but not be limited to managing premium calculations, reserves, claims, and other financial transactions associated with insurance operations. Attention to detail will be pivotal in this role, as the Insurance Accountant navigates complex financial scenarios and ensures that all financial activities align with industry regulations and our clients' specific requirements.
The Insurance Accountant will serve as a key liaison for our clients. They will engage in collaborative efforts to understand and address the unique financial needs of each client, providing accurate and timely financial reporting.

As the insurance industry is dynamic and subject to regulatory changes, the Insurance Accountant will stay well-informed about industry developments to ensure that financial practices remain current and compliant, providing our clients with the assurance that their financial interests are well-protected.

Purpose of the Role

Ensure client service delivery to clients in accordance with agreed SLA’s.


Job Responsibilities/Description

  • Responsible for financial function and reporting and for client companies;

  • Monthly Claims Bordereaux reconciliation to claims system and claims paid for Reinsurance purposes;

  • Quarterly Reinsurance Statement reconciliation and additional large losses statements for reinsurers;

  • Monitoring of Quota Share payments/receipts;

  • Monthly XOL Large Loss Analysis and monitoring of collections;

  • Liaising with Reinsurers and maintaining a good relationship throughout;

  • Preparation of monthly Incurred IBNR table summary analysis;

  • Ad-hoc cashflow forecast work for clients;

  • Ad-hoc claims reconciliation work for clients;

  • Participate in business development and new client activity as required;

  • Support the Managing Director as required.


Personal Attributes/Experience

  • Part Qualified or Qualified accountant;

  • Knowledge of Gibraltar and UK GAAP requirements;

  • Commercial awareness.

  • Commercially focussed;

  • An organised and proactive approach;

  • Ensures great attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;

  • Ability to work under pressure;

  • Personable, polite and comfortable liaising with all levels of staff, clients and regulator;

  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic;

  • Flexible approach to work and adopts a positive attitude;

  • Takes responsibility for tasks and sees them through to completion;

  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team;

  • Takes initiative to make decisions;
